North Waaslandhaven Works
The works in North Waaslandhaven are currently in the first phase, the construction of the new bridge.
This phase includes a study phase, the setting up of the construction site and the effective building of the new bridge. The bridge is designed so that the girders are made in one span, thereby not requiring a central pillar. This means that disruption on the R2 is limited as much as possible.
This phase starts in March 2017 and will last until November 2017. We are currently in the study phase. Actual work will start on the site in mid-April at the earliest.
- Lanes on the R2 are narrowed in both directions at the level of the bridge construction (minimum width per lane is 3 metres). There is no impact on the roundabout or other roads.
- During this phase, the R2 will be closed completely over two weekends; traffic will be routed via the access and exit roads. The exact dates of the closures will be announced in good time on this website and in the newsletter.
